These Little Piggies...Are REALLY Swollen!!

Ouch! My ankles are disappearing, and it's difficult to find shoes to wear. My beautiful engagement/wedding band no longer fits my swollen finger, either. I am wearing my plain wedding band now, so at least I have something on!

This week, I had a lovely shower at school, which my wonderful teammates, Vicky, Chris, and Melissa, threw for me. The staff overwhelmed me with their generosity, and we got several gift cards for Ethan.

I'm progressing nicely, but at this point, I'm a ticking time bomb!! I could go at any time, which I hope I don't, since Kevin is traveling next week. We do have a "Plan B", but we're just hoping Ethan decides to stay put for a little while longer.
36 weeks and counting!!

32 Weeks

It's hard to believe that I've made it 32 weeks! I remember when I had 32 weeks to go, and thought it would drag by! Not the case.

This week, my mom and her friends threw a shower for me, where I got to spend time with family and friends. It was lovely, and I even got a half-slice of the delicious Red Velvet cake that my mom's friend Debra made, per my request.

Two new developments in my pregnancy. First, I'm pretty sure I'm feeling to Braxton-Hicks contractions. My whole abdomen gets tight and hard. No pain, just discomfort. Second, I think the baby is starting to put pressure on my sciatic nerve. I've been having pain down the lower right side of my back down to the back of my knee cap. These things have made teaching very interesting. I'm trying to sit more, but it's extremely difficult. The best compromise I could make is to wear flats instead of heels.

The nursery is almost done. I'm hoping to post pictures on my week 33 blog. Here I am at 32 weeks. From the back, I still don't look pregnant...and I think that's neat!

Showered with Love

This has been quite the week. I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster...partially because of the hormones, which are kicking in full force, and partially because of the highs and lows I've experienced this week. Let's just say, I'm ready for the weekend.

This post will focus on the highs, though.

This weekend, my very thoughtful friends, Allison and Marissa, threw a Very Hungry Caterpillar baby shower. (They are the two other cute pregnant ladies standing with me in the picture by the diaper cake.) The decor was creative and adorable, and I truly enjoyed spending quality time with my girlfriends. They are already spoiling my little guy...he got many great gifts!

My best friend, Jenn (center of the picture under the cupcakes), made the quilt and burp cloths..beautiful. She's planning to start an Etsy shop with one of her friends. I'll be sure to post about that when it's up and running!

Last but not least, Kevin and I celebrated our TWO YEAR anniversary yesterday. It's already neat to look back and think of how far we've come. I know this is just one of the many adventures we will brave together, and as the years go back, we'll have many more special moments and experiences about which we can reminisce.

Here is a picture of me at 30 weeks. I can hardly believe my due date is so close...I guess time flies when you're...pregnant???

Week 25

As promised, here is my Week 25 update. This week, it's back to work for me...sort of. I have a four-day science workshop, which unfortunately, I am not enjoying. I keep hoping it will get better as the days progress. After this week, I will be going back to school to prepare my classroom.

In nursery news, our glider and ottoman have arrived. They are beautiful, but again, you'll have to wait to catch a glimpse of it. Kevin also installed some shelving to display picture books above the glider. As a teacher, I'm sure I'll have NO problems filling it.

The invitation for my first baby shower arrived in the mail last Thursday. It is adorable, if I do say so myself. My wonderful friends, Allison and Marissa, are full of creativity. If the invitation is this cute, I can't wait to see the rest of the adorable touches at the shower! Thanks to them in advance, seeing as how they are both expecting, very close to my due date, as well!

One more thing I've been learning to rely on are these little guys.

Finally, here I am...in my 25-week pregnancy glory!

Pretty in Pink Shower

Yes, I know, it's been a while since my last post. We've been busy with quite a few things, all of which I've vowed to post on the blog. Currently, we are enjoying ourselves in Hawaii, but more on that later. I will try to post things in the order that they happened, and so first I will write about Allison's baby shower.
On July 31st, we held a pretty pink shower for mom and baby. We were joined by many friends and enjoyed delicious food (and drinks!), games (like guess the baby food..blech), and company. Here are some pictures from the event. I can't wait to meet this baby girl in just a few short weeks!

Marissa's Baby Shower

Yesterday, we had a baby shower for one of my very good friends Marissa (view her blog here). She and her husband David are expecting a baby at the beginning of August. We have NO idea what the baby is, but I think most people are of the mind that it will be a boy. (Won't we be surprised if a little princess shows up!) The diaper cake in the photo was actually made by me, with some help from my mom. I can't believe it turned out so cute! (Someone asked if I sold them...haha!) Here are some pictures of the shower. P.S. - How good does Marissa look??

It's Actually Happening!

As the wedding approaches, it seems more and more real. When we first got engaged, we had over 400 days until the wedding, and now we have 61. Sure, we booked our vendors for "the big day", but it was very surreal. The events of the last week, as well as what is yet to occur this week, is making the wedding seem all too near. Last week, I had my final dress fitting. This was the first time that it actually felt like MY dress. A little scary, I must admit. On Saturday, we spent time with Kevin's family at dinner. We got to see his cousins, aunts and uncles, including Aunt Nancy and Uncle Sherman from North Carolina. (I am mentioning them specifically because Aunt Nancy told me that she started reading my blog!) On Sunday, Kevin's aunts (Jo, Nancy, Linda, and Karen) threw me a beautiful bridal shower. I got a bright red Kitchen Aid mixer (YAY), among many other awesome gifts. Nothing says marriage like a Kitchen Aid mixer! Today I sent out the wedding invitations. It was almost like they didn't want to go, since I had to take them to the post office twice. The first time I tried to send them, the postal worker told me they were too heavy. I was a little bummed, since that meant I had to buy 17 cent stamps. Now, the pretty interlocking wedding band stamps are accompanied by the rugged bighorn sheep stamps. What can I say? I'm making a statement. This week is packed with many more wedding-related activities, including: 1) a trip to Sam's Club to buy items for the out-of-towner goody bags; 2) printing off the table numbers; 3) bottling the wine we made at Grape Inspirations (these are our custom made wedding favors); 4) meeting with the rabbis at the temple to map out the ceremony; 5) drafting the ceremony program. Wish us luck!!
