Future Sports Fan

Baby P. is going to be the most adorable (and tiniest) I.U. Basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan! Lets hope both teams have winning seasons, but either way, Baby P. will be watching in style!

Week 25

As promised, here is my Week 25 update. This week, it's back to work for me...sort of. I have a four-day science workshop, which unfortunately, I am not enjoying. I keep hoping it will get better as the days progress. After this week, I will be going back to school to prepare my classroom.

In nursery news, our glider and ottoman have arrived. They are beautiful, but again, you'll have to wait to catch a glimpse of it. Kevin also installed some shelving to display picture books above the glider. As a teacher, I'm sure I'll have NO problems filling it.

The invitation for my first baby shower arrived in the mail last Thursday. It is adorable, if I do say so myself. My wonderful friends, Allison and Marissa, are full of creativity. If the invitation is this cute, I can't wait to see the rest of the adorable touches at the shower! Thanks to them in advance, seeing as how they are both expecting, very close to my due date, as well!

One more thing I've been learning to rely on are these little guys.

Finally, here I am...in my 25-week pregnancy glory!

Our Latest Investment

I promise I will post a 25 week picture...hopefully tonight, since Thursday will mark the next week in pregnancy. I'll also add some updates regarding the nursery, and other baby-type things. Also, I just noticed that I only have 100 days until my due date!

For now, I thought I'd share our latest investment...the BabyPlus. It's pretty much a fanny pack that you strap on and play different "lessons" which consist of rhythmic beats that mimic a mother's heartbeat. You wear it for one hour in the morning, and one in the evening, and yes, I do feel weird doing it. However, it is supposed to help the baby learn to discriminate between the patterns and the sound coming from mom.

As a teacher, I'm all about learning, so we thought we'd give it a go after it was recommended by another teacher friend. It is supposed to help baby nurse more readily, self-sooth more easily, and hit developmental milestones more quickly. For more information, you can read about BabyPlus here. I can't find any harmful effects stemming from it, and I did look elsewhere besides just the product website, so I thought we'd give it a go...worst case, it doesn't do anything for him.

All Things Baby

Week 24 has been very baby-centered. As I mentioned in my last post, we have been focusing on prepping for our little one. The nursery looks wonderful, and I love spending time in there already. I've also been doing a lot of baby clothes shopping, with a trip to the outlet mall near us, and my new favorite non-guilty pleasure, Once Upon a Child. This store has the best deal and best selection of baby clothes. I'm not big into shopping at places like these, but the quality and organization of my local OUaC has made me an addict! I keep telling myself that I have plenty of time to explore the wonder of the store, but it's difficult to convince myself to stay away, especially in this outrageous heat! What else is there to do?

Speaking of the crazy hot weather, here is picture of Tobi lounging on the deck...he's working on his tan.

Feeling Motivated

Kevin and I are back on track...with the nursery, that is! After a six week hiatus, we're back in the game! This week, we ordered a beautiful (and SUPER comfortable) upholstered glider and ottoman set in slate. We also ordered the crib mattress.

Kevin overhauled the closet. He took out all the old bars and shelves, which were not conducive for a baby. After seeing the plethora of holes in the closet walls (and the fact that the closet was a disgusting pastel pink), he decided to putty and paint the inside of the closet with one of the aqua colors we chose for the rest of the room. Next, he put up the new set up, where we have two rows for hanging clothes and a bunch of shelving for baby's other needs.

I did some decorating, which involved Eric Carle Hungry Caterpillar fabric, needlepoint hoops, and double-sided tape. Thanks to my friend Marissa for this idea! We also found some Hungry Caterpillar wall decor stickers, so we put some of those up as well.

I'm not going to post any pictures of the room until it's complete, so you'll just have to take my word for it for now...it's looking ADORABLE!

The Baby Wanted Icing

I blame this craving on the baby. I He was very specific in my his request - whipped cream cheese icing. I He better get all these sweet cravings out now, since I was just informed at my check-up that I will have to do my glucose test at my next visit. I do NOT want to fail that. I hear there is some disgusting sugary drink you have to down in five minutes, and then sit in the office for an hour to let it get into your system. The lady at the desk told me not to eat any sugary food, including fruit, the day before or the day of my visit, which will be tough.

Anyway, here we are at 23 weeks!

Baby Registry Bonanza

Last night, Kevin and I started our baby registry. In order to avoid the same frustration we dealt with when we registered for our wedding, I suggested we begin by registering online. This way, I could look at reviews and do some reading about different products I was interested in putting on the list. Kevin got bored after a while, but I trucked along until 1am. I managed to whittle the list down by at least half, so I'm hopeful that our trip to the stores will be much less overwhelming.

I do have some questions for moms out there....

1) I love those sleep 'n play outfits. I hear my baby will live in them while at home. How many do I need in each size??

2) Onesies. One-derful. I read a post on a message board saying that the best advice someone got was to register for 20 onesies EACH in the following sizes: NB, 3M, 6M, 9M. Is this a reasonable number? Will my child be wearing these with EVERYTHING?

3) Do I just plop a contoured changing pad onto my dresser/changing table? It has straps to keep the baby on it, but how does the actual pad stay on top of the dresser?

4) What type of clothing will I need for the baby...you know, when he's not in a sleep 'n play?

5) I registered for 2 96-pack boxes of Newborn diapers and 1 192-pack box of Size 1 diapers. Good idea?

6) What are some other MUST HAVE items I should stick on the registry?

Happy Fourth of July!

Kevin and I spent this Fourth of July with our friends on Geist Reservoir. It was very cool watching the fireworks on the water. We also got to experience a patriotic boat parade and see sky divers land on the bridge!

Also, I turned 22 weeks...here's the newest baby belly pic.

Our Vegetarian

Tobi has become quite the health fanatic. He is OBSESSED with vegetables. Up until now, we knew he was crazy for green beans and baby carrots, but his new favorite veggie is the sugar snap pea! Let's hope the baby has the same love for vegetables!

Myrtle Beach...We Wore Matching Shirts

Courtesy of Kevin's brother, Steve, and his girlfriend, Cindy, we had matching "Pinsky Family Vacation" t-shirts! Anyone want to venture a guess as to who is on the front of them?
