To the Park with Play Group
One of the things Ethan and I have been looking forward to regarding our summer break is rejoining our play group. This group of moms and littles were a great support to me, especially when I struggled with PPD and anxiety. One of the things I knew I'd miss when I went back to work was my biweekly meeting with these ladies.
But now....we're back! Ethan and I enjoyed a romp in a local park and then lunch together. It was such a sight...seven mommies and ten littles.
We can't wait until our next adventure with our friends!

Baby Steps
Today is a good day. Even though I lost a lot of sleep due to anxiety last night. Even though Kevin is back in Boston until Friday night. Even though I had a small panic attack this morning. Even though I had to call my mom and her friend, Debra, for some reassurance. Today is still a good day.
I have been repeating two things to myself today: 1) One thing at a time; 2) I'm doing my best.
Our biweekly play group met today. Although I felt overwhelmed at the thought of getting everyone and everything together to leave the house, I repeated my two mantras and went. It was so nice to be around the positive mommies in the play group. Ethan enjoyed himself, mostly sitting on my lap observing the older babies. He ate well, and when he seemed to be getting restless, I put him in his car seat (without so much as a complaining fuss), and we left for home.
Tonight my mom is coming over to give me some relief in the evening and at night, which will be nice.

Shhhh....
He's all tuckered out from his playdate with Luke. They actually did play together...if you count laying on the floor, side-by-side, quasi-looking at one another, playing. I almost got them to hold hands, too!

Off to Play Group We Go!
Ethan slept for 5.5 hours, but then would not go back down for longer than 30 minutes at a time. That meant I got little to no sleep between 5:30am and 8am, when I finally gave up on getting the little one to go down for another long stretch.
I am very proud of myself, though.
We had plans to go to a play group at 11am today. Normally, I would have nixed our plans and stayed home with the cranky, inconsolable baby. Not today. I decided we'd go anyway. He did so well! He napped before we went and through the car ride there, ate when he woke up, played a little, and then went back down for another nap.
I think it was nice for both of us to be around other babies and moms and get out of the house. Sometimes, you just want to be with people who know how it feels when you're having a rough morning! If we would have stayed home, I think I might have gone a little nutty!
Now...if only I could get him to nap in his crib!!

Hanging Out
I promise I won't post about every playdate that Ethan and Luke have, but these two are adorable! I love that Ethan has a buddy who is right around his age. It will be wonderful to watch these two grow together. They are two little handsome devils, don't you think???

Ethan's First Play Date
Today, Mommy and Ethan were quite adventurous. We picked up some Subway sandwiches, chips, and cookies, and headed to my friend Marissa's house. Her son, Luke, was born just 9 days after Ethan, so we thought it would be nice to get these little guys together for a Play Date...or Nap Date, as was the case! We all enjoyed some lunch and great company this afternoon.
